Head Coach: Kylie Borgias

(6&U Boys and Girls)

Kylie Borgias

Hey Hurricanes!  Get excited for summer because it is going to be a blast!  My name is Kylie and this will be my second summer as Head Coach.  I am thrilled to coach the six and under boys and girls again.  In the fall I will be a senior at Baylor University in Texas.  At Baylor I am very involved in my sorority, Pi Beta Phi, as well as a Christian Ministry called K-Life.  I love to be outside all the time and hang out with my family, and my dog, Ty.  I like to explore Colorado by hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.  If I don’t know you yet, come find me by the pool! I am so passionate about the hurricanes, and the positive experience swim team is for Homestead families.  This season is going to be wonderful!  See ya at the pool!

Kathleen Calkins

Hey Hurricanes!  My name is Kathleen Calkins and I am so excited to be coaching the 8 and under girls this summer!  I will also be the Assistant Head Coach.  I am extremely excited to be back for this swim season.  Next year, I will be a sophomore at Colorado State University studying Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine.  Some of my hobbies include scrapbooking, working out and being outdoors.  I love hanging out with friends, and my family is a very important part of my life.

I swam for the Hurricanes from age 9 to 18 and I loved every minute of it.  I was also on the Junior Varsity swim team at Cherry Creek High School for four years.  This will be the first summer that I am too old to swim on the team.  I am so grateful that I can still be a part of this team as a Hurricane coach!  Swim team is always the highlight of my summer and it is because of all the great swimmers and their passion for this team.  I love all the team spirit that Homestead has.  So get ready Hurricanes, it’s going to be another awesome season! See you all at the pool J

Coach: Sean DesMarteau

(8 & Under Boys)

Hey all you Hurricanes! My name is Sean DesMarteau and I will be the coach for the 8 and under boys’ age group for the 2010 swim season. I am currently 19 years old and have just finished my freshman year at the University of Colorado studying Electrical Engineering. Although this will be my first year coaching the Hurricanes it will not be my first interaction with the team. I swam for the Hurricanes for 9 years starting from age 9 and through all those years I have seen how much the Hurricanes have meant to this neighborhood and myself. The Homestead Hurricanes are the best way to bring everyone in the neighborhood together and have fun and work hard at the same time. In addition, to swimming for the Hurricanes I also swam for the ACES swim club for two years and swam on the Cherry Creek High School Boys Swim Team all four years, two of which I swam on the varsity team. I know how much this team means to the neighborhood and I am very excited to continue the tradition of the Homestead Hurricanes. I’m excited for the summer and I hope all of you are. Finally, remember that the Hurricanes is about having fun and enjoying swimming with all your friends. No one should see the first place person as the only winner. Rather, look to see who behaves like a winner and has the most fun while doing it.

Hey swimmers – I am so excited to become a part of Homestead’s coaching tradition, and even happier to be assigned to coach the 9 – 10 girls!  Swimming has been a huge part of my life, and it all started right here in Homestead as a member of the Hurricanes.  I started when I was six, and also swam club and on varsity for Creek until my Junior year when a health problem took me out of the competitive ranks.  I still love the sport, and have turned my attention to coaching.  I have volunteered for the Cherry Creek Special Olympics swim team for six years, and this past year I became the head coach of the youth team.  I will graduate from Creek this May, and then in the fall I’ll head to North Carolina to attend High Point University where I plan to major in special education.  Can’t wait to see you all the pool – LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!

Coach: Ryan Hellman

(9-10 Boys)

Hi, my name is Ryan Hellman and I began swimming for Homestead at age 5 and continued to swim every year until my career was done in 2009.  I also swam for Cherry Creek High school my freshman and sophomore years making State both times.  I continue to use swimming as a way to stay in shape and I'm really looking forward to applying the knowledge of not only swimming I learned from my years as a Homestead Hurricane, but also the acts of sportsmanship, team support, and being a champion.  I think I'm a good fit for this program because I enjoy working with kids, especially in the pool, and I understand the Hurricane way!  Thank you for the opportunity to coach your 9-10 boys.

Hi Hurricanes! I’m so excited to coach another successful swim season as the 13-18’s coach! This will be my tenth year with the team– I swam for nine, was an H20 for two and had a great time coaching the 9-10 girls last year! I am currently a management major at CU-Boulder involved in Leeds Council as a Freshman Rep. and am a Peer-2-Peer mentor for business students. I also play the guitar and might rock your face off with the national anthem at some of our home meets if I get a chance… J I’m very appreciative of the opportunity to coach again this summer and I’m looking forward to using my experiences with the team to help carry on the championship tradition and having a blast while we’re at it!
